Taking strict notice of politicians delivering speeches after casting votes in the countrywide general elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued notices to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and former foreign minister Khawaja Asif for violating the electoral code of conduct.
An ECP spokesperson said that action may be taken against politicians who delivered speeches and those who voted on-camera with their every move being monitored. He said the vote might not be endangered, but the voter may face consequences as per the ECP laws.
Notices have also been issued to media houses for airing media talks of these politicians. The ECP has directed all the channels to refrain from such violation or action will be taken against them.
