ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday approved inquiry against former inspector general of Balochistan FC Lt Gen Ubaidullah Khan.
“EBM has accorded approval for conducting an inquiry against former IG FC Balochistan Lt Gen Ubaidullah Khan owing to his reported involvement in a suspicious transaction,” according to a press statement issued by the watchdog after an executive board meeting held at the NAB headquarters. The board decided to conduct another such inquiry to probe suspicious transaction by Brig (r) Asad Shahzada. Another inquiry was approved against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Sardar Atif Khan Mazari over alleged grabbing of the state land.
Another inquiry has been ordered against former Balochistan minister Jaffar George, who is accused of corruption and abuse of authority.
The board approved an inquiry against the committee set up by the Balochistan government for procurement of MI 171-E helicopter for inflicting millions of rupees losses to the national kitty by purchasing the helicopter on higher rates as compared to the market.
The board approved closing of inquiry against former Sindh minister for excise and taxation Giyan Chand Israni.
Another inquiry was approved against the officials of Sindh Board of Revenue and the Fazia Housing Scheme, Karachi. The Sindh revenue officials are accused of allotting the state land to Fazia Housing Scheme illegally.
Investigation against Dr Ahsan Ali, vice chancellor of Khan Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was also approved over alleged corruption in purchase of 161 vehicles and university’s petrol fund, causing millions of rupees losses to the national exchequer.
The board approved inquiry against former Larkana DIG Sian Rakhio Merani and others for having assents beyond known sources of income.
In the press statement, the NAB clarified that the inquiries and investigations are initiated to probe the allegations which are not binding until proved correct.
