LAHORE: Google paid tribute to the legendary poet Mirza Ghalib’s on his 220th birth anniversary with a doodle.
Ghalib was born in Agra on December 27, 1797 and started composing his poems from the age of 11.
The legendary poet, who wrote many ghazals and poems in Urdu, Persian and Arabic language during the Mughal era, became famous for his many Urdu ghazals and his content was translated into many languages.
In 1850, he was honoured with a title of Dabir-ul-Mulk by the emperor. He was also appointed as the Royal historian of Mughal court.
Ghalib’s contributions to Urdu poetry and prose were fully appreciated not only in his life but after his death. His work is still alive in the modern era.
