LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that the proceedings of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the Sharif family are a murder of justice.
Responding to a question about his indictment in corruption references while addressing the media in London, he termed these proceedings as ‘a murder of justice’.
Pointing towards the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision of his disqualification in Panama Leaks Case he said, “They could not find me guilty in the Panama issue, so they based their verdict around my Iqama”.
“I would have accepted the verdict if it was about corruption,” he added.
In a reference to the Pakistanis living in the Gulf States, he said, “There are many other Paksitanis who own an Iqama”.
Criticising the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), which was formed to probe his assets, he said, “The people who were chosen for the JIT were my worst opponents”.
He further said that if the justice system continues like this then it would bring nothing but embarrassment to Pakistan.
He also promised to return to Pakistan soon.
