ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Azam Swati appeared before a joint investigation team (JIT) at the National Accountability Bureau headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday and was interrogated for two hours.
According to details, the JIT is investigating alleged misuse of power, misconduct and encroachment by the Federal Minister of Science and Technology.
Last Month, Chief Justice (CJ) Saqib Nisar had taken suo motu notice of sudden transfer Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jan Muhammad as he allegedly refused to take action on a complaint made by Swati’s son regarding a fight with a family at their farmhouse.

The Supreme Court then formed JIT in order to investigate the allegations against the federal minister. The JIT is headed by DG NAB Rawalpindi Irfan Mangi and other high officials from Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The court also asked the team to submit the report in 14 days.
Therefore, the minister was summoned and questioned by the JIT today.

Moreover, the JIT has already questioned Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi and other officials in the case.
Previously, the SC had suspended the transfer of Jan Muhammad but had to withdraw its order after he excused himself from performing duties as Islamabad IGP.
